A Japanese food manufacturer located in Santa Fe Springs, California is looking for the candidate who can work as a R&D Staff.
<Job Description>
・Understand the characteristics, functions, and pricing of raw materials, as well as the company’s products and production methods, and identify customer needs.
・Conduct new and improved trial productions based on customer requirements and create labels in compliance with regulations.
・Develop industrial recipes that consider raw material costs and manufacturing processes, always mindful of cost efficiency.
・Develop and improve efficient work procedures through implementation and test production on the manufacturing line.
・Monitor trends in the raw material and packaging material markets and share insights with related departments.
・Research alternative materials for raw materials and supplies that may become difficult to procure.
・Investigate, develop, and propose methods and equipment to improve production efficiency.
・Analyze changes and trends in the food industry and consumer market to design and develop forward-looking new products.
・Prepare and execute market research reports, new product development plans, and presentation materials for sales and clients.
・Perform other duties as instructed by supervisors as needed, including miscellaneous tasks such as lifting and moving raw materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
<Requirements>
・High school diploma or higher (Preference given to those who studied/majored in Food Science at university)
・1-2 years of work experience in the food industry and/or basic knowledge of food product development
→ Salary will be determined separately based on experience and work history
・1-2 years of experience in trial production within the food industry
・Basic knowledge of product development in food manufacturing or a strong enthusiasm to learn these skills
・Ability to mix/prepare ingredients and perform cooking tasks
・Strong communication skills that emphasize teamwork, as the role requires collaboration with multiple departments
・Analytical skills to collect data, assess the environment and market conditions, and contribute to product development
・Proficiency in English (business level) and Japanese (native level)
→ Ability to understand and explain tastes and flavors in both Japanese and English
・Physical ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds (raw material handling)
