A Japanese art studio located in the Brooklyn area of New York City, New York is looking for an Art Researcher.
<Position Overview>
The Art Researcher supports the conceptual development works—including paintings, digital
art, and sculpture—by integrating art historical, cultural, and philosophical context into each piece.
Working closely with the artist, this role translates research into clear concepts and narratives that inform both the
creative process and external communication.
<Key Responsibilities>
・ Conduct in-depth research on art history, philosophy, and cultural context aligned with each project’s
concept
・Translate research into clear and compelling concept narratives (for both internal and external use)
・ Collaborate closely with the artist to develop and refine ideas and directions
・ Build contextual connections to past works, artists, and historical movements
・ Support the creation of artist statements, exhibition texts, and artwork descriptions
・Develop and maintain an internal research archive for future reference and reuse
・ Conduct additional research on art trends, market context, and collector perspectives when needed
<Required Qualifications>
・ Bachelor’s degree in Art History or equivalent knowledge/experience
・ Solid understanding of art history (both Western and Eastern preferred)
・Strong ability to structure and articulate abstract ideas
・ Ability to translate research into practical and meaningful concepts for artwork
・Strong communication skills to engage in deep dialogue with artists
・Excellent writing skills in English and Japanese
