A Japanese restaurant (cafe) located in San Francisco, California, is looking for an Assistant Manager (Front of House) to join the team.
<Job Overview>
The Assistant Manager (Front of House/FOH) will support and manage the day-to-day operations of the restaurant’s front of house. This includes staff allocation, customer service, and assisting in the achievement of operational goals. While overseeing the front of house operations, the Assistant Manager plays an integral role by working closely with other departments across the entire restaurant.
<Job Description>
・Customer Service: Assist in improving the service level of the FOH team. Handle guest recovery efforts, and report to upper management when special attention is required. Assist with budget management, including verification of refunds, discounts, and gifts at the close of business.
・FOH Inventory Management: Order necessary tools, supplies, and small wares.Hygiene Management: Ensure thorough cleanliness of FOH workstations, drink stations, and restrooms. Strive to maintain and improve the cleanliness of the entire front of house.
・Vendor Support: Assist with ordering and receiving, and perform quality and quantity checks.
・Troubleshooting: Address issues such as water clogs, power outages, grease traps, and other equipment malfunctions.
・Register & POS Management: Close the cash register after business hours. Be responsible for menu changes and updating third-party services such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, etc.
・Daily Reports: Prepare daily business reports that provide a clear understanding of the on-site operations.
・Other: Assist other departments as needed.
<Requirements>
・Minimum 5 years of experience in food and beverage, with front of house experience required.
・1-3 years of supervisory experience.
・Experience working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
・Well-groomed appearance and approachable demeanor.
・Experience working with a multicultural and multilingual staff (we have staff members who speak Japanese, Spanish, and English). Fluency in Japanese is a plus but not required. The main language requirement is fluency in English.
