Kitchen Chef |Authentic Japanese Tempura Restaurant

An authentic Japanese tempura restaurant is looking for a kitchen chef to work at a restaurant offering omakase tempura courses in Honolulu, Hawaii (Ala Moana area), a popular location for tourists. Due to business expansion, you will be responsible for supporting the overall kitchen operations of the restaurant under the supervision of the Executive Chef.

The refined and elegant restaurant has counter seats as well as table seats,
The restaurant offers an omakase course ($160) that includes tempura using seasonal seafood and local ingredients flown in from Toyosu, Tokyo, appetizers, sashimi, and a meal menu dessert.

The Executive Chef of the restaurant is a Michelin star winner for 8 consecutive years as Executive Chef.

<Job Description>

As a Kitchen Chef, you will assist the Head Chef in the preparation and cooking of Japanese cuisine including sushi and tempura.

General operations related to sushi and cooking (preparation of tempura omakase course)
Set up counters and stations
Prepare fish fillets for use at the counter and in the kitchen
Making sauces and dressings
Prepare all necessary preparations for all sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi and omakase
Keep the restaurant, kitchen, counters and tables clean at all times

<Requirements>

Must be able to prepare Japanese dishes such as tempura, dashi, chawanmushi, etc.
Experience cooking in a Japanese restaurant (5 years)
Understanding of Japanese culture (Omotenashi)
Business level English and Japanese language skills are a plus.
Visa to work in the U.S. (OPT not accepted)
We will not provide relocation support, although applicants from the U.S. mainland are welcome to apply.
