A Japanese High End Sushi Restaurant in Santo Domingo Dominican Republic is looking for a Head Sushi Chef for a Japanese restaurant located in a major hotel owned by a major Japanese restaurant group company.
The company is looking for an experienced and passionate Head Sushi Chef to lead the sushi kitchen. This is an exceptional opportunity for a culinary professional with a deep understanding of traditional and contemporary Japanese cuisine. The ideal candidate will combine high technical skills, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to excellence.
Primary Responsibilities:.
Oversee the day-to-day operation of the sushi kitchen to ensure smooth and efficient service
Design and implement creative seasonal sushi menus
Maintain strict standards in sanitation, food safety, and presentation
Provide guidance and training to sushi chefs and kitchen staff
Responsible for inventory control, ordering and cost management
Collaborate with the management team to improve menus and customer satisfaction
Qualifications:.
Minimum 7 years of experience as a sushi chef, including at least 2 years in a leadership position
Advanced knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, knife skills, and fish handling
Strong understanding of traditional and contemporary Japanese cooking techniques and ingredients
Strong leadership and team management skills
Fluency in English (Spanish a plus)
Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Culinary school degree or equivalent training in Japanese cuisine preferred
