Customs Broker ｜Major Japanese Logistics Company

A major Japanese logistics company located in Toronto, Canada is looking for a Customs Broker.

＜Responsibility＞
Customs:
・Act as the primary point of contact for various customs processes, including CERS, HS determination, COO, CUSMA, CARM, and PARS.
・Collaborate closely with freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, and agents to ensure smooth customs clearance and timely delivery.
・Administer special customs programs such as duty exceptions, tariff shifts, US 301, special tariffs, and known shippers.
・Maintain electronic records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
・Efficiently manage drawback processes, including requests for customs rulings and issuance of trade documents such as Free Trade COOs and OGA.
・Verify the accuracy of NMFC class and codes.
・Understanding of HS code assignment with supporting BOM breakdown.

Trade and Compliance:
・Oversee all customs and trade compliance activities, including entry adjustments, FTA eligibility, and the audit and approval of duty invoices.
・Interpret regulations for stakeholders and provide analysis of their direct impact.
・Provide costing implications of trade program compliance for domestic, North American, and global customs and source vendors.
・Develop and implement strategies to overcome customs and trade compliance obstacles.
・Collaborate with vendors and customers to minimize costs while maintaining regulatory compliance.
・Act as the SME and administrator of trade security programs such as CTPAT,PIP, CSA, and their international equivalents.
・Provide support for CTPAT & PIP initiatives.
・Comfortable with government trade operations web portals

・Knowledge of customs and trade operations
・Ability to handle regulatory compliance
・Understanding of international logistics and import/export regulations
・Experience operating government trade and customs web portals
・Experience using ERP and customs systems
