A major Japanese logistics company located in Wood Dale, Illinois is looking for a Branch  Manager& Sr. Manager of Contract Logistics position.

*The work location is not within Chicago.

 

<Job Description>

【Branch Manager】
· Engage in significant out of office sales activities.
· Provide consultation to corporate clients to promote and develop business.
· Review and evaluate financial performance data to implement strategic ideas of achieving growth and expansion for the branch.
· Recruit, select, train and retain a qualified workforce to help achieve growth and expansion.
· Conduct performance appraisals, develop subordinates for promotions and salary increases, and also discipline, demote and/or terminate employees when necessary.
· Improve working environment, maintain workplace discipline and improve operational efficiency.
· Promote communication and teamwork activities within the branch and the region.
· Analyze route layouts to ensure safe and efficient transportation routes.
· Accurately forecast seasonal demands.
· Direct, schedule, coordinate and dispatch movers and drivers.
· Conduct and perform job estimates for existing and potential customers.
· Oversee delivery and receipts for customers and ensure all shipping and customs clearance documents are executed correctly and that payment is properly accounted.
· Exercise sound judgment to troubleshoot and resolve disputes between and amongst staff.
· Ensure compliance with all governmental regulations relating to DOT, FMCSA, TSA, C-TPAT and OSHA.
· Resolve customer complaints, including exercising independent discretion to quickly and fairly resolve claims of damage to freight, cargo and household goods.
· Train staff on methods of providing Yamato’s excellent customer service.
· Prepare accounting documents timely and correctly while maintaining A/R under 90 days.
· Manage and improve proper record keeping processes.
· Meet or exceed goals and objectives for sales revenue and/or gross profit and/or operating income.
· Ensure that policies and procedures and company’s quality standards are followed.
· Conduct regular inspections to assure all facilities, equipment and vehicles are in complete compliance with company and governmental regulations.
· Handle all marine insurance matters.
· Implement information security, safety, health, fire protection within the branch.
· Investigate cargo accidents.
· Conduct driver safety training, coach safe driving practices and implement safety campaigns.
· Engage in limited moving operations, specifically limited to supervising crews, if necessary, during peak seasons.
· All matters as necessary to revitalize, grow and expand the business of the branch.
· Attend the moving jobs at the different customer work sites. Assist in packing, unpacking, loading, etc.

【Sr. Manager of Contract Logistics】
·Oversee and supervise the implementation of initiatives to achieve objectives relating to Logistics business.
· Provide support for regional sales in the customer logistics domain.
· Make decisions regarding operational management, provide recommendations to management, build relationships with stakeholders, and engage in discussions and coordination with other teams.
· Manage on-site operations, safety and labor management, improvement activities, and standardization of operations.
· Collaborate with HQ Segment Manager and Regional VP for data reporting and analysis and to conduct necessary improvements.
· Ensure high quality service delivery with continuous improvement.
· Control and negotiate buy and sell pricing rates and manage fixed and operational costs of logistics business within the region.
· Maintain appropriate staffing and employee development.
· Assume financial and operational responsibility of logistics business in the region.
· Establish plans and achieve planned sales and profit objectives for logistics business in the region.
· Strengthen relationships with key customers.
· Perform numerical and financial analysis.
· Execute network operations at the regional level to optimize logistics business.

【Branch Manager】

· Strong understanding of exporting and importing household items, primarily through ocean transport.
· Knowledge of freight forwarding and import/export business.

【Sr. Manager of Contract Logistics】
· Knowledge of the theory and practice of Supply Chain Management and its optimization.
· Knowledge of logistics and trade practices such as warehousing, transportation and forwarding.
· Knowledge of customer’s overall business and supply chain.
· Knowledge of practical Customer Relationship Management and Customer Experience Management.
· Knowledge of financial statements, Profit and Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow.
· Knowledge of process design and management improvement methods.
· Knowledge of SCM logistics planning through IT and various web and digital platforms.
· Knowledge of logistics facilities, equipment, technology and devices.
· Knowledge of various basic laws and regulations related to warehousing, insurance, transportation, dangerous goods, customs brokerage, import, export, ocean and air related shipping.
·Proven leadership skills.
· Strong negotiation and closing skills
·Proficient in MS Office software, especially Excel, PowerPoint & Word.
·Excellent customer relation skills.
·Works well in a team environment.
· Strong listening skills to effectively identify and meet the needs of the customer.
· Skills to design business and supply chain solutions to meet customer needs and to provide value to customers.
·Skills to identify and define business and IT requirements of a customer and/or division or department.
