An American-owned sushi restaurant in Jersey City and Hoboken , New Jersey is seeking a Sushi Chef.

＜Position Overview＞
The Sushi Chef executes omakase menu from preparation through service, maintaining consistent standards for quality, presentation, portioning, and timing. Working directly with guests, this role requires strong technical skills, close collaboration with the team, and a professional, engaging presence throughout each seating.

＜Responsibilities＞
・ Prepare and serve nigiri, sashimi, hand rolls, and other menu items according to company standards.
・ Execute timed seatings with consistency in quality, presentation, portioning, and pacing.
・Engage with guests throughout the omakase experience and respond to requests professionally.
・ Prepare, handle, and store fish and other ingredients in accordance with food-safety standards.
・Maintain a clean, organized work area with all ingredients and supplies ready for service.
・Monitor inventory and communicate ordering and supply needs.
・Coordinate with fellow chefs and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.

＜Qualifications＞
・ At least two years of professional sushi chef experience.
・ Strong knife skills and proficiency in preparing nigiri, sashimi, and hand rolls.
・Knowledge of fish preparation, handling, storage, and food-safety practices.
・ Experience in an omakase or guest-facing sushi concept is preferred.
・ Ability to execute timed seatings with consistency, precision, and composure.
・ Confident, personable, and professional when interacting with guests.
・ Reliable, organized, and collaborative.
・ Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
