A leading Japanese building materials company located in Glen Allen, Virginia is seeking a Supply Chain & Logistics Specialist.
<Position Summary>
The Supply Chain & Logistics Specialist supports end-to-end supply chain activities—
from purchase order management and inventory control to product costing, logistics coordination,
factory support, and office administration. This role contributes to improving operational efficiency
across the company’s growing U.S. operations, including direct support for the Virginia factory and
logistics center.
<Key Responsibilities>
1. Purchase Order and Logistics Administration
• Issue, track, and manage purchase orders for raw materials, finished products, and samples
• Coordinate international and domestic shipments, ensuring accurate documentation and
compliance with Incoterms
• Communicate closely with suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to monitor lead
times and resolve shipping issues
• Maintain accurate shipping records and update ERP systems (QuickBooks, Asana)
• Manage return shipments and support claims processing for damaged or non-conforming
goods
• Virginia Factory Logistics Operations
o Oversee all logistics operations related to the Virginia manufacturing facility, including
inbound material coordination, inventory control, production scheduling support, and
outbound shipment management.
o Collaborate closely with production, quality control, and sales teams to ensure timely
material flow and efficient plant logistics.
o Develop and implement standardized logistics procedures at the Virginia plant to ensure
consistency with corporate policies
o Manage relationships with regional transportation providers and third-party logistics
(3PL) partners to optimize freight cost, delivery lead time, and reliability.
o Monitor and report on logistics KPIs specific to the Virginia facility, such as on-time
delivery, freight cost per unit, and inventory turnover.
2. Supply Chain Management
• Conduct monthly inventory management, including cycle counts, reconciliation, and
variance investigation
• Calculate and update monthly product costs, incorporating materials, freight, warehousing,
and other inputs
• Analyze inventory data and vendor costs to support cost reduction initiatives
• Support the Virginia factory team by sharing supply chain data, helping identify bottlenecks,
and assisting in initiatives to reduce production lead times and manufacturing costs
• Work closely with procurement and factory operations to align raw material delivery with
production schedules
• Maintain the ERP system with up-to-date inventory, lead time, and costing information
• Generate regular supply chain and costing reports for management review
• National Accounts Supply Chain and Delivery Operations
o Develop and manage an integrated supply chain network to serve National Accounts,
including National Chains, Modular Builders, and large-scale distributors.
o Establish efficient delivery and distribution systems that meet national customers’
requirements for project-based and high-volume shipments.
o Coordinate cross-regional warehouse utilization, transportation scheduling, and
logistics performance for nationwide delivery.
o Collaborate with sales, production, and finance teams to align national delivery capacity
with demand forecasts.
o Build long-term logistics partnerships and implement digital visibility tools to improve
delivery accuracy and transparency.
o Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, cost control, and
customer satisfaction in national account operations.
3. Logistics Center Operations Support
• Assist in the practical operation and improvement of KMEW USA’s logistics center, including
inventory layout planning, inbound/outbound coordination, labeling, and storage standards
• Provide operational support for logistics partners (e.g., 3PLs), including daily communication,
stock monitoring, and issue resolution
• Help design and implement efficient workflows to improve inventory handling accuracy and
reduce logistics costs
• Serve as a liaison between the logistics center and sales, factory, and planning departments
to ensure seamless fulfillment
. Office Administration
• Answer and direct phone calls professionally; greet and assist visitors at the Redmond office
• Manage mail, courier deliveries, and office supplies
• Keep office areas tidy and assist with scheduling and internal communications
• Provide general administrative support including data entry, document management, and
translation if needed
• Support other departments (HR, accounting, management) with clerical tasks as required
5. Additional Responsibilities
This position may be assigned other tasks or special projects by the Supply Chain & Logistics
Manager to support the evolving business needs of KMEW USA. Duties may expand or shift based on
company growth and operational priorities.
<Qualifications>
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
preferred
• 3+ years of relevant experience in logistics, inventory, manufacturing support, or
administrative roles
• Experience with product costing and inventory control in a manufacturing or distribution
environment
• Strong proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (QuickBooks, Asana, etc.
•Understanding of Incoterms, international trade documentation, and shipping coordination
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Japanese language skills are a plus
• Ability to visit production and logistics sites as needed
• Capability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects up to 60 lbs. (27 kg) as needed, using proper
equipment or assistance.
• A valid U.S. driver’s license is required for occasional travel to job sites or partner locations
