Pastry Chef | Japanese bakery store

We are looking for a Pastry Chef to join our beloved bakery in California — famous for our signature croissants and the long lines that form every morning.

<Job Overview>
Work collaboratively with team members to produce cakes (icing, decoration, cutting, etc.), as well as sponge cakes, cheesecakes, and tarts. Responsibilities also include developing new products, maintaining cleanliness of the workspace, and ensuring hygiene standards.

<Responsibilities>

  • Pastry Production: Preparation of a wide range of pastries, including sponge cakes, roll cakes, cheesecakes, tarts, and cookies, from measuring and mixing ingredients to final products.

  • Production Process Management: Handle all processes from batter preparation to baking and final decoration.

  • Quality Control: Ensure consistency in taste and presentation by maintaining close attention to detail throughout production.

  • Hygiene Management: Maintain personal hygiene as well as kitchen and equipment cleanliness, strictly following food safety standards.

  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory of ingredients and supplies, including ordering, receiving, and inspection.

  • New Product Development: Create and develop new sweets with attention to both appearance and taste, reflecting market trends and seasonal themes.

  • Seasonal & Event Products: Develop and produce special items for events such as Christmas and Valentine’s Day.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Store Manager and Kitchen Manager to improve production processes, maintain equipment, train team members, and contribute to overall store operations.

 

<Qualifications>

  • Bilingual in Japanese and English (Spanish a plus)

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

  • No educational requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Pastry Chef
