A leading Japanese food trading and distribution company in Linden, New Jersey, is seeking a Sales Account Manager.
<Job Overview>
The role involves leveraging sales experience in food manufacturing, food distribution, CPG (consumer packaged goods), and household products to build relationships with existing customers, grow sales, and develop new accounts.
Through customer visits, business meetings, and pricing negotiations, the Sales Account Manager will recommend products that meet customer needs and drive business growth.
<Job Duties>
Account Management & Business Development
・Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customer accounts
・Identify and pursue new business opportunities
・Contact prospective customers, introduce products, and generate new orders
・Recommend products based on customer needs, preferences, and business goals
・Conduct customer visits, product presentations, and sales meetings
・Provide product samples, catalogs, and pricing information
Sales Strategy & Market Development
・Monitor market trends, competitor products, pricing, and industry developments
・Identify opportunities to expand product distribution and increase sales
・Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and sales agreements
・Develop sales plans and support revenue growth
・Prepare sales budgets, performance reports, and account records
Customer Support & Branch Operations
・Communicate with customers regularly regarding product availability, pricing, and orders
・Resolve customer concerns and provide ongoing after-sales support
・Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth order fulfillment
・Follow up on outstanding payments and assist with collections
・Maintain accurate sales records, reports, and expense documentation
・Support additional sales and branch operations as needed
＜Requirements＞
・Minimum 3 years of professional sales experience required
・Strong background in account management, business development, or outside sales
・Experience in B2B sales to major U.S. supermarket chains, national retailers, or food distributors
・Experience managing key accounts with major U.S. retailers such as Walmart, Costco, Kroger, or Albertsons is highly preferred.
・Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
・Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
・Ability to drive long distances for customer visits
・Willingness to travel overnight when needed
・Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
・Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
・Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
・Self-motivated, dependable, and results-oriented
・Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities independently
・Strong attention to detail and customer service mindset
・College degree or equivalent education preferred
・Experience selling Asian food products
・Sales experience with food manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, or retail chains
・Experience in household goods or other consumer product categories
・Established relationships with grocery retailers, distributors, or foodservice customers
・Experience managing large customer accounts and negotiating sales contracts
・10+ years of experience in food or consumer goods sales
