Accounting Director, Controller｜Major Japanese Gas Company

A large Japanese gas company in Houston, Texas  is looking for an Accounting Director, Controller.

<Job Overview>
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting under US GAAP and Japanese GAAP, lead
audit and tax compliance, accelerate closing timelines, and upgrade financial systems to
support business growth

<Responsibilities>
・Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
・Lead external financial reporting processes.
・ Coordinate with external auditors to ensure compliance.
・ Manage tax compliance and relationships with tax advisors.
・ Apply accounting treatments per US GAAP, Japanese GAAP, and internal policies.
・Maintain and enhance internal controls.
・Manage selection and oversight of accounting advisors.
・ Provide accounting guidance for new business transactions.
・ Lead accounting system implementation or upgrades.
・ Coordinate with subsidiaries for consolidated reporting.
・ Prepare reports for senior management and audit committee.
・ Manage, develop, and evaluate a team of accountants and contractors

< Required Qualifications>
・Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and active CPA license.
・10+ years in accounting/finance.
・Deep knowledge of US GAAP and complex accounting issues.
・Leadership in financial reporting, internal control, and closing processes.
・Advanced MS Excel skills.

<Preferred>
・Experience in complex or multinational corporate environments.
・Energy industry experience.
・Familiarity with Diva, OneStream, SAP, or similar systems.
・Cross-cultural reporting experience
