Sushi Chef (Must be able to speak Japanese)

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Japanese sushi chef to join our team. As a chef, you will play a key role in providing an auxiliary role to the Head Chef in terms of preparing dishes/fish and ensuring a positive dining experience for our guests. You will be responsible for preparing orders, directly serving fish, potentially explaining each dish in intricate detail, and maintaining a clean and organized prep area. Please note that 5 years minimum in a Japanese sushi environment is MANDATORY. Head Chef is willing to teach people with 5 years how to further hone in their skill and expertise in terms of cutting, inspecting, and preparing fish.

Responsibilities:

– Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner

-Explain dishes

– Communicate and entertain guests

– Prepare dishes in intricate detail

– Answer menu items in intricate detail
– Serve food and drinks to customers in a prompt and efficient manner
– Check on customers throughout their meal to ensure satisfaction
– Maintain cleanliness of dining area, including prep tables, chairs, and floors
– Assist with opening and closing duties, such as setting up tables or restocking supplies

Qualifications:

Need to have at least 5 years of Japanese Sushi Restaurant experience
Recommended – Need to have at least 1 year of high-end fine dining
– Knowledge of basic math skills for preparing dishes
– Familiarity with kitchen process
– Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
– Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks during busy periods
– Experience with POS systems or similar restaurant management software is a plus
– Knowledge of OpenTable, Tock, Toast or other reservation systems is an advantage
– Basic knowledge of culinary terms and menu items is beneficial
– Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitate work areas according to health regulations
