QA (Quality Assurance) Manager

A Japanese food manufacturer in Irvine, CA is looking for an individual to serve as a Manager of Product Quality.

<Job Summary>

The Quality Assurance Manager develops and maintains the protection of quality standards at the production company.
Before a product reaches the consumer, the Quality Assurance Manager will work with a team of professionals to evaluate the product in detail to ensure all requirements, compliance standards, and that the product is free of defects.

<Job Description>

  • Food Safety Management as SQF Practitioner and PCQI.
  • Manage quality assurance staff and associates to achieve the organization’s quality goals.
  • He/she will be responsible for root cause analysis of errors and discrepancies, and for facilitating and managing the process while taking corrective action.
  • Report goals and progress to management.
  • Prepare food standards and manufacturing specifications in accordance with food safety standards.

  • Evaluate food ingredient content and packaging materials and prepare food safety certificates, ingredient lists, allergen and microbiological standards, etc. to food safety standards including food safety certificates, SQF, Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).
  •  Directly apply knowledge of food science and food safety to determine processing procedures (including price, delivery date, MOQ, patents, and other necessary items, including patents, and other necessary items)
  • Develop table tests, lab tests, manufacturing tests, and quality tests necessary for new product development.
  • Prepare specifications (quality control process sheets), cost analysis, and other documents as required.
  •  Oversee food regulatory research (CFR, state regulations, and/or other food regulations related to manufacturing or specifications required for food labels or manufacturing or food labels.)
  • Directing a competitive analysis to identify and plan market strategies.
  • Oversee regular internal facility and food safety audits, inspections and sample preparation for third-party laboratory testing conducted by QA.
  • Oversee that finished products and/or work-in-progress meet all relevant standards and customer requirements for shipment and/or next steps.
  • Establish and maintain food safety protocols, policies, and procedures to achieve defined manufacturing goals.
  • Monitor food safety programs and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (maintain R&D/QA documentation, prepare and manage third-party and customer audits).
  • Investigate customer complaints.

<Requirements>

Must have a valid U.S. work visa.
∙ 5+ years of experience in a quality assurance environment, including experience in a leadership role
Experience managing cross-functional projects and teams
Strong communication skills
Computer skills (Word, Excel/spreadsheets, PowerPoint, etc.)

Working Hours Monday through Friday, 5 days a week, 8:30am – 5:00pm

Salary $75k – $100k/year (to be determined after interview based on experience)
