We are currently looking for a Purchasing Manager to work at a Japanese food wholesaler in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
<Job Description>
• Develop and implement purchasing strategies to support the company’s business goals.
• Negotiate with vendors to secure the best price and service guarantees.
• Research and develop products to increase company sales and revenue.
• Monitor and forecast future demand and develop new sources of supply as needed.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies.
• Manage and develop food safety programs, including hazard analysis, sanitation, and recalls.
• Oversee quality control and ensure compliance with government food safety standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with purchasing staff at other locations to negotiate bulk purchase discounts and optimize efficiency.
• Recruit, interview, hire and train new staff for the department.
• Oversee the day-to-day workflow of the department, providing constructive and timely feedback, training and guidance.
• Participate in internal events and functions held outside of normal working hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
<Requirements>
• Business-level English skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening)
• Business-level Japanese skills (preferred)
• Must have a clean driving record and maintain it
• Must maintain a positive attitude
• Must be able to adapt to frequent changes in work content and workload
• High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
• At least 5 years of related work experience required
