A Japanese restaurant (matcha café) opening soon in Palo Alto, California is seeking an experienced Floor Manager to join their new restaurant.
The restaurant also includes an Omakase sushi section, and you will oversee both areas in a balanced manner. As this is a new store opening, they are looking for someone who can take initiative and actively support the launch.
<Job Summary>
This role involves not only management duties but also hands-on operational work. The Floor Manager will support and oversee the daily operations of the restaurant, including staff scheduling, customer service, and achieving operational goals. You will supervise the front-of-house operations and collaborate closely with other departments to ensure the overall success of the restaurant.
<Responsibilities>
・Customer Service: Support the team in maintaining high service standards. Handle guest recovery situations and escalate issues when necessary. Review refunds, discounts, and gifts after service to support budget management.
・Inventory Management: Order necessary tools, supplies, and small equipment.
・Sanitation Management: Ensure thorough cleaning of workstations, drink stations, and restrooms. Maintain and improve overall cleanliness of the front area.
・Vendor Support: Assist with ordering, receiving, and quality/quantity checks.
・Troubleshooting: Respond to issues such as plumbing blockages, power outages, grease trap problems, and equipment malfunctions.
・POS and Cash Management: Close the register at the end of the day. Handle menu updates and manage third-party delivery platforms (DoorDash, Uber Eats, etc.).
・Daily Reporting: Prepare daily operational reports to keep management informed of on-site conditions.
・Cross-Department Support: Provide assistance to other departments as needed.
<Requirements>
・Valid U.S. work authorization
・Interest in barista work and matcha
・Minimum 5 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, with front-of-house experience required
・1–3 years of supervisory experience
・Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
・Professional appearance and friendly demeanor
・Experience working with multicultural and multilingual teams
