<Job Overview>
The Benefits Administrator contributes to the overall operation of the HR Department through the coordination of benefits programs and the performance of administrative tasks. The Benefits and Leave Administrator is responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, disability, worker’s compensation, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and retirement plan). The Benefits and Leave Administrator also provides excellent customer service, educates employees on benefits plan offerings, maintains compliance, and provides analytical and technical support in applying the company’s benefit plan.

**Benefits Administrator will work a minimum of 40 hours per week; however, will require flexibility during periods which may call for overtime. They will engage people directly, through video conferencing, or over the phone which may result in obtaining confidential information, it is expected any information disclosed remains confidential. Some travel is involved, visiting the branch office during open enrollment.

 

<Job Description>
・Manages all benefit enrollments; including but not limited to, New Hire, Open Enrollment, and Life Events.
・Coordinates and implements daily benefits processing and resolution; including, but not limited to, enrollments, terminations, claims processing, COBRA, FMLA, and Disability.
・Works directly with third-party vendors to address any participant-level issues that may arise.
・Serves as point of contact and provides customer service to employees and their families pertaining to health, dental/vision, voluntary benefits, and wellness program requirements.
・Administers and informs statutory leave eligibility requirements to all employees, initiates required notices and certifications, and notifies Payroll and Supervisors of the employee’s leave status.
・Plans and communicates benefits training, such as new hire orientation, retirement workshops, wellness challenges, and periodic lunch and learns.
・Audits monthly benefit invoices reconciles any discrepancies, and issues payment orders.
・Collects health insurance premiums from employees on leave of absence status.
・Coordinates with Payroll the appropriate application of the employee wellness program’s premium subsidy.
・Ensures compliance with benefits programs, utilizing knowledge of benefits legislation (COBRA, FMLA, HIPAA, PPACA, ADA, etc.) by staying up to date on rules and regulations impacting benefits programs.
・Monitors employee’s work hours or status to apply eligibility changes and update ACA reporting.
・Performs data entry to employee’s files within HRIS with information pertaining to group health/life insurance, wellness program, 401(k) plan, and workers’ compensation cases, while maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding of all protected health information per HIPAA regulations.
・Provides backup support to the Workers Comp team on the Worker’s Compensation program and works with managers to set up return-to-work plans for injured workers.
・Other duties may be assigned, as necessary.

<Requirements>
・4 Year / Bachelors Degree in human resources or business administration preferred
・At least 5 years of experience in generalist human resource roles with a focus on benefit administration
・Through understanding of federal, state, and local requirements in regards to health & life insurance, 401(k) Plan, FMLA & other LOA, and Workers’ Compensation programs.
・Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete numerous tasks with consideration of time constraints.
・Stay on top of responsibilities as the workload fluctuates.
・Multitask and keep projects progressing simultaneously.
・Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with staff, management, and business partners, as well as communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
・Excellent interpersonal skills, and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
・Ability to verify information, draft communication, and update the HRIS database accurately and timely.
・Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and Dayforce HRIS.
